Life Hamilton(ライフ ハミルトン, Raifu Hamiruton) is Sayu's father and Toko's former Meister. He fell in love with the witch Netsuki, whom he had been hunting for Toko to take her soul and become a Death Scythe, resulting in the birth of Sayu. After Sayu's birth, Life and Netsuki went into hiding so Life could keep Netsuki safe from being hunted by other Meisters, leaving their daughter to be raised by her "grandmother". Life asked Toko to remain with Sayu and protect her, asking that she never tell Sayu the truth of who her parents were, and letting her form her own assumptions. He did not foresee the effect this would have, his daughter assuming her parents had abandoned her because she wasn't good enough.
